Ups and Downs

23/24 Results

  • B div – PIMS and Rockets to go up.

Following the introduction of Spartans and Stars to the league, only Vixens will go down.  PIMS and Rockets will still go up.

Fixtures/Matches

Matches will be held as to separate A and B division nights.

The matches will follow the usual rotation format. i.e. A division night, followed by B division night.

Fixtures were issued to on 4th August 2024 and posted on the Captains WhatsApp group.

The 1st league games will be on 3rd September 2024.

4 matches per night and match times are as follows: 7.00pm, 7.45pm, 8.30pm, 9.15pm.

Game Format

  • The games will be 4 x 9-minute quarters
  • There will be a 1 min break at the end of each quarter and at half time. This is to give teams the opportunity to make substitutions .
  • The league is not implementing the tactical changes rule under the England Rules and substitutions can only be made at the end of each quarter.
  • All changes/subs must be made efficiently, without delay.
  • Scorer will issue a 30 second warning of return to court
  • Teams will change ends at the end of each quarter.
  • The timer has instruction to set the timer up, it will do 4x 9-minutes with 1-minute between quarters with a beep to indicate the quarters and break.
  • The timer will automatically run and won’t be stopped if players aren’t ready to play. If one team is delaying play for over 30-seconds, the umpires can award a goal to the opposing team. This is applicable at every interval.
  • Teams are expected to be at the court, in good time and ready to start their game without delay.

Knockouts/Friendlies

Knockout matches and friendlies are to be held on  the nights as highlighted green on the circulated fixtures.

5 matches per night and match times are as follows: 7.00pm, 7.35pm, 8.10pm, 8.45pm, 9.20pm.

Matches will be 4x 8 minute quarters with 1 minute interval.

There will be no time in between games and therefore teams are expected to promptly leave and take to court.

The borrowing rules detailed below are also applicable to knockout games.

Scoring

There will be no paid ‘organisers of the night’. To support this decision, there is an expectation captains/players will contribute to the smooth running of the league and support starting matches on time and completing other allocated jobs (score cards and finances noted below)

Umpires will take responsibility for the start of each game .

Each team will provide a scorer for their game. Team captains will provide the scorer with their scorecard for the game, having listed the players used.

Score cards will be issued to teams.

Player of the Match – as usual, each team to nominate a player from the opposing team.  This is to be recorded on the scorecard.

Team captains will take a photo of both sides of the scorecard and email to [email protected] by 8am on the day after the match date. Each team will be allowed one late score card submission and be reminded of this should they submit late. Any further late submissions will be deducted a point as per 23/24 season.

Any issues please send a WhatsApp to Kerri to advise, this is not to be used as a way of sending scores in.

Scorecards must highlight if a player is borrowed, this is the captain’s responsibility.

Scorecards will be checked against Team list to monitor borrows, league entry & England Membership provided by Captains.

Usual points awarded – 5 win, 3 draw and 1 point if within 50% of the winning score.

Borrowed players

Borrowed players -teams can borrow up to 2 players per game. The borrowed players must play either WA or WD.

A division can borrow from A & B. B division can borrow from B division only.

A player can be borrowed by teams, as above, but can only be borrowed once, by an A Division team. B Division teams can borrow the same player twice.

If teams breach the borrowing rule; i.e. an A Division team borrowing the same player twice or a B Division team borrowing the same player three times, the team will be subject to a one-point reduction. The league will not send out any warning and it is the responsibility of the captain to monitor their borrowed players throughout the season.

Forfeiture

No games will be re-arranged:

If the league needs to cancel a game due to weather conditions, , leisure centre closure etc, points will be awarded to each team, equivalent to a draw i.e., 3 points.  A goal average of 12, will be awarded to each team.

It is expected that games are only cancelled by teams, in exceptional circumstances.

If a Team needs to cancel a game, full points will be awarded to the other Team i.e., 5 points. In addition 12 goals will be awarded to the non-forfeiting team.

When the game is not played, the forfeiting team pays the costs for both teams affected.

The forfeiting team is to notify Abi Dunne that they will be paying the subs for both teams.

The forfeiting team is also to email [email protected] advising that they have forfeited the game

If the game is forfeited but played as a friendly, teams are to split the cost with those on court covering the subs.

Scorecards must clearly mark that the game is a friendly and be emailed to [email protected]

League Entry

Once again, the league had a financial loss last season. We recognise we are still in difficult times and still want to support our players, but we need to continue to recoup our losses.

The individual league entry fee remains @ £5 for 24/25. This payment needs to be made to the league before the player plays their 1st league game.

New players joining teams mid-season must complete the New Player Registration form.

The entry fee still stands if a player joins part way through the season.

The match fee is  £28.00 per team.

Knockouts and friendlies matches are £21.00 per team

Teams may have a total squad of up to 20 players registered with High Peak Netball Club. Match squads are set to a maximum of 12 players per game.

Match Fees/Payments

Teams to pay their league entry fee, via direct transfer to the league bank account.

Teams to pay their match fees, monthly, via direct transfer to the league bank account.

Match fees must be made, by the last day of each month and cover payment for all the matches played that month. The Treasurer will reconcile all payments received.

The 1st monthly payment will be due by 30/9/24. This month will include payment for all Sept games.

When the payment date falls on a Tuesday, the due date for the teams playing that night, will be extended to the Friday.

An email will be sent to all captains prior to commencement of the first league matches confirming all banking information and payment dates.

Umpires

We have a brilliant group of umpires who are prepared to give their time to the league.

Umpires will continue to take responsibility for collecting the locker keys from reception to enable access to league balls, league first aid bag and accident book, for use as required.

Equipment

The league scoreboard is to be used for each match and set up by the scorers

Teams are encouraged to have their own set of bibs. Financial support can be offered to Teams to purchase the bibs but this will need to be repaid.

The league sets of bibs (possibly 5) to be offered to teams to use for the season and allocated on a ‘first come’ basis.

The league will provide a match ball but Teams are also encouraged to have their own.

First Aid and Health and Safety

Entry to the sports hall will remain the same.

  • Games 1 & 3 – front door near changing rooms
  • Game 2 & 4 – side door.

The league will follow the England Netball rules relating to Injury/illness or blood.

First Aid will not be administered by an official or a committee member. The Leisure Centre staff need to be informed for formal first aid/call an ambulance etc.

Accident forms need to be completed by any player injured.

In the event of a player hitting their head on the wall/floor, the player must leave the court and the HPNC Guidelines for the immediate management of a suspected concussion should be followed. A copy of these Guidelines are available in the league file at all match nights.

A further copy of the Umpires and Scorers information sheet, outlining what actions need to be taken and by whom, will be issued to all umpires and teams.

Teams are expected to support their players with an injury.

All teams should have their own First Aid Kit; plasters, ice packs etc.
