The Who, What & Winners of our Walking Netball Tournament 2026

Despite a change of plan due to poor weather 🌧🌧🌧🙄, we had a fab day hosting our annual Walking Netball tournament on Saturday 6 June.

Thank you to Chapel Leisure Centre for accommodating us inside, and to all the teams and umpires for coming and adapting to the change in format! 🏐💜

Six teams took part in this year’s tournament. Two from Glossop (Aces in blue bibs and Diamonds in red bibs), New Mills (in light blue bibs), Tideswell (in yellow bibs), Buxton (in green bibs), and Queens Park from Chesterfield (in black bibs).

We played a round-robin with each team having 5 matches. Here are some action shots from the Buxton v Tideswell match. We had some great, competitive matches with end-to-end play.

The event was supported by members of High Peak Netball Club league, and one husband, who helped with the umpiring, officiating and organising.

New High Peak Borough Council Mayor, Councillor Barbara Hastings-Asatourian, came to hand out the awards 😊🥉🥈🥇🏆 and made a short speech about the benefits of coming together and being active.

Finishing in last place was Tideswell, fifth was New Mills, and fourth was Glossop Diamonds.

In third place, with 15 points, was Buxton, second place with 20 points was Glossop Aces; and retaining their title as Peak District Champions, with a clean sweep of 25 points, was Queens Park.

Well done to Queens Park and thank you everyone for coming along. What a great day. We’ll see you next year!

If you would like to get involved in our Walking Netball sessions, they restart in September. Find out more about them on our adults page here.
